Armenia and the worldwide diaspora

Armenia is the national homeland of the Armenian people. Armenian communities have also lived for generations across the Middle East, including in Lebanon and Syria, and throughout a broad diaspora in the United States, France, Russia, and elsewhere.

Khuba does not describe Armenia as part of the Middle East. Armenian Christians are named separately in Khuba’s eligibility because Armenian communities have long been part of Middle Eastern Christian life and the worldwide diaspora. Armenian identity remains meaningful across national borders, and many Armenians also identify by the nationality of the country where they live.

Khuba does not decide how members should describe the relationship between Armenian identity, nationality, and church. Members describe their own cultural or ethnic identity. They also select a church family on their profile.

Church traditions among Armenians

Most Armenians belong to the Armenian Apostolic Church. Others belong to the Armenian Catholic Church, Protestant and Evangelical churches, Non-denominational congregations, or other Christian traditions.

On Khuba, a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church would select Oriental Orthodox. An Armenian Catholic member would select Catholic. A Protestant or Evangelical member would select Protestant / Evangelical. The profile records the family the member selected. It does not identify a parish, rite, or jurisdiction, and it does not confirm anyone’s practice.

Language, family, and Sunday

Eastern Armenian and Western Armenian are both used in Armenian life, depending on family history and where people live. Classical Armenian, known as Grabar, is the traditional liturgical language of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Eastern Armenian, Western Armenian, English, and other local languages may also shape preaching, education, and parish life. Two people may share an Armenian background and still need to discuss which languages they hope their children will speak, how close they live to their parents, and what fasting, feast days, and parish life look like in practice.

Family is often part of how a relationship becomes a marriage, not an afterthought. That does not mean every Armenian family is the same, or that Khuba speaks for anyone’s relatives.

Dating across distance

Members may live in Armenia, in long-established Middle Eastern communities, or far from both. Shared heritage does not remove the practical challenges of distance, visas, or different church calendars. Khuba does not promise a match in the next city or across an ocean. It gives two people a place to see the church family someone selected and to ask the questions that matter before a relationship goes further.

Marriage and the church

Shared faith is the foundation. Churches still differ on how marriage is blessed, on previous marriages, and on what they ask of a couple before a wedding.

Khuba cannot determine someone’s ecclesiastical eligibility for marriage. Members should discuss their circumstances honestly and consult their priest, pastor, or appropriate church authority.

Khuba is not an interfaith service or a general dating app. Every member must meet the same Christian, age, relationship-status, and community eligibility requirements.
